Bob Marley & The Wailers … Live Forever

A long time bootleg “must have” for Bob Marley fans, The Stanley Theatre, Pittsburgh PA. 9-23-1980 is finally available on CD. Released Feb 1st by The Island Def Jam Music Group and Axiom Zion Records, Live Forever is Bob Marley at his best. If you never heard “Live” Bob Marley you should really treat yourself to this release. Right from the start, Marley and the Wailers kill it with one of the best versions of  ”Natural Mystic” you will hear. Flowing into “Positive Vibration”, then a red hot “Burnin & Lootin”. I’m quickly reminded why this has been one of my favorite bootlegs over the years. Some other super good tracks on the first disc are “Them Belly Full”, “Crazy Baldhead”, and “Zion Train”. The first disc finishes up with a stellar version of the Marley standard “No Woman, No Cry”.

The second disc kicks off with a real nice “Jamming”, then rolling into “Exodus” and a haunting “Redemption Song”. The pace quickens with “Coming In From The Cold” and “Could You Be Loved” and then downshifts into “Is This Love”. Next is really cool version of “Work”, then the boys finish up with a crowd pleasing “Get Up Stand Up”.

On some versions the disc also comes with some tracks by the I Threes…. “Precious Love”, “Marcia Greetings”, and “Slave Queen”. Then “Steppin’ Out of Babylon”, and “That’s the Way” finishes up the disc. On my bootleg, I did not have any of the I Threes tracks, so this disc is must have for that alone. This is hands down one of the best releases of the year. It brings back the amazing live performance of Bob Marley and the Wailers in such a beautiful way. You should have this disc in your collection… get it today !
