Boasting 3 grams of hops for every pint, as soon as I pop the bottle the aroma of Cascade hops can be detected.
As with most American Pale Ales, Table Rock is a deep orange tinged copper with a small lacing. This is definitely a beautiful beer accented by the small, slow trails of carbonation making there way to the surface.
The hop aroma is most prevalent in the nose, a faint air of sweet nutty malt can be caught. Using copious amounts of Cascade hops Olde Hickory has developed a focused and floral fragrance to this pale ale with notes of fresh cut grass and pine thickets.
The first sip of Table Rock lets you know that this is not the same beer that originated across the pond, this beer has hops, lots of hops. Although the bitterness is intense, it is balanced by the addition of caramel and crystal malts. The sweet malt is quickly pushed aside by the full onslaught of hop in all its piney glory.
Table Rock Pale Ale is a staple of the Olde Hickory line up and for very good reasons. This is a solid interpretation of the style and has amazing drinkability. This beer plays well against burgers and pizzas, the crisp bitterness will cut through salt and spice of sausages as well. With spring time around the corner this a perfect beer for warmer days when you want something refreshing, but still love full flavored ales.
