Dirty South Beatdown 7 … Greene St. Club, Greensboro NC

3-11-11 was the date for the Dirty South Beatdown 7, held at Greene Street Club in Greensboro NC. The event was hosted by the Iconoclast Crew’s Ed E Ruger and DJ Phillie Phresh along with Skibo. There were 16 producer scheduled to compete for $300 cash, a trophy, and some serious bragging rights. The judges for the event were Rush of Flight School Music, Charlotte’s Mr. Invisible, and Christ Addams (yes, HypeNC’s Christ Addams). In addition to the beat battle there was a few live performances as well. Flight School Music, Mr. Invisible, Celinski, and Iconoclast Crew with Ty Bru provided some hot performances in between rounds of the competition. The producers that competed were… County Jail (DSBD6 Champ), J.J. the Jenius, Big Ton, Philonius Monk, Mr. 808, The Solution, Carson Palmer, Art ‘Official, Ken E, Equinox, DNA, Ty Bru, and Brey Quick. Three producers were unable to compete so a few producers got a easy ride to the second round, but the easy rides stopped there.

The first couple of round the producers used their original beats, but in the later rounds all the producers competed with re-mixed tracks to insure fairness. The tracks to re-mix were, Queens’s “Bohemian Rhapsody” and Ludacris’ “Move Bitch”. The battles were all very close, so it was a tough night for the judges. The beat of the night was hands down a re-mix of “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Brey Quick. The crowd flipped the hell out when Quick’s re-mix was blastin through the club’s sound system. In the end it was Carson Palmer vs Brey Quick, it was a close one but the judges had Carson Palmer coming out on top… winning DSBD7… every round of the battle Palmer had some crazy original beats that proved to be too much for the competition. Stay tuned to HypeNC… over the next several weeks, we will be releasing videos from each match-up and will have a interview with the DSBD7 Champion Carson Palmer.
