The Beat Box … 10 Questions with Carson Palmer (DSB7 Champ)

1.       How long have you been producing & what made u start

-          I believe I started off composing and producing back in 2004, primarily interested in capturing live performance, but once I started tinkering with my software, I fell for various styles of music and began developing other genre banks very quickly.

.
2. You have done music In many genres,Hip Hop,Electronic, etc what makes you brach out where most producers won’t?

-          I have a wide variety of music that I “listen” to as a fan away from producing, which is really what keeps me practicing new techniques constantly to help expand my mixing capabilities and further progress my overall sound.

.
3. Who are your favorite artists that you have worked with and who would you like to work with?

-          I’m proud to say that the people that I’ve come across, and had the chance to work with have been great people. Recently I’ve worked with Ed. E Ruger and his crew for his track titled “In The Clouds.” Currently I’m working with FSM (Flight School Music) on a few tracks for their upcoming mixtape to be released sometime soon, which I’m super stoked about, so keep a look out!

4. Who are some of your biggest influences in the music industry?

-          Easily, I have to say Tom Dowd, Andre 3000, Biggie, Deadmau5, and plenty more.

.
5. How would you describe your style to people who’ve never heard your music?

-          I’m going for impact, precision, and satisfaction. I always strive to incorporate something within my tracks for anyone and everyone to grab onto and groove with, and hopefully leave with!

.
6. What programs do you use for making tracks?

-          FL studio at the moment.

.
7. Which battles are your favorite battles & against who?

-          Ha, well I would have to say the battle round between me and Skates my first time out, was pretty intense. Skates is nice, and his style is something to cling onto, so I was sweatin’ on that one. Easily the closest competition on stage I’ve ever experienced. Also, the “Move Bitch” final round at Dirty South Beatdown 7 was a round I had been looking forward to since I received the acapella, which turned out in my favor at the end.

8 Your win was somewhat controversial, what do u have to say to the people out there about the decision?

-          I can’t really say too much because I know I showed up just as prepared and ready to compete as the other producers were. You have to show love to all the competing producers because regardless of who wins a competition, every single producer who came out definitely has talent and something to run with.

9. What projects have you been featured on & what do you have coming up in the future?

-          Recently I was featured on Ed. E. Ruger’s New Album “Ziplocked And Loaded” providing the beat for his “In The Clouds” track. And like I mentioned previously, I’m currently working with FSM (Flight School Music) on their upcoming mixtape, providing a handful of beats.

10. Last but not least who would you like to shout out

-          Definitely every single person who has came out and listened to my music, and the ones who support me and what I’m doing. My family, my friends, thank you all for coming in and out of town to show support.  Shout out to Ed E. Ruger and his crew for hosting the battles and showing mad love, also Young Rush, MECCA, Blaze, Hendrix Law, everybody at FSM. Shout out to Skates, Mr. 8oh8, Wonderboy, all great dudes/producers with even greater visions.
