April 15th not only marked the deadline for Taxes, but it was the date for Scrap Live 7 “Bad Intention” in Winston Salem NC. HypeNC’s resident Renaissance Man, Ty Bru, and myself showed up to LJVM Coliseum Annex about 7pm and the crowd was already building. There was a definite “buzz” in the air, looked like the people of North Carolina were ready for some MMA action. Inside, DJ DDS was on the wheels, UFC / Pride fighter Wanderlei Silva was signing autographs, and the fighters were preparing for a night of exciting match-ups. Everybody seemed to be having a large time, some folks dancing, others catching up with friends, but all having a very good time. As the fight time of 8pm rolled around… most all of the crowd had filtered into the arena with folks sitting on the edge of their seat ready for the night of “Bad Intentions”…
The night of fights started out with several amateur bouts. They might be amateurs but the quality of the fights were very high and the fighters came with a lot of heart. Following the amateurs came the pro fights. And I must say, the professionals did not disappoint. North Carolina MMA was well represented with several fighters from Team One based in Winston Salem NC. It had to be a rush for these fighters to be able to “Bang” in front of family and friends in their own back yard. Also on hand was a couple of young fighters out of Wanderlei Silva’s Camp in Las Vegas.

I have to give a huge shout out to Jeff Bankston and Crew from Scrap Live for putting on such a well produced MMA event. I really enjoyed the pace and quality of the event. The fights were very high quality and moved right along with very little time between bouts. I know they had some scheduled fighters drop out due to injury and illness but really did a fine job making the proper adjustments and providing North Carolina fight fans with a very fun night of premium MMA. HypeNC looks forward to bringing you more coverage from Scrap Live and North Carolina MMA in the near future… look for fighter profiles, event coverage, and much much more…
