This Thursday (April 21, 2011) started about the same as usual. Work my lunch shift, get off and head over to Sandy Bottom’s for dollar day on Thursday. About an hour in, someone mentions the Greensboro Grasshoppers, and that they have a dollar day too, called Thirsty Thursdays. Hmm… that could be a perfect way to break up my monotonous routine, so I decided to head over to Natty’s Hill where the ball field is located. A buddy came along, and being the penny pincher I am, we decide to park at LULU’S tavern where the old KILROY’S club used to be. That brought back some memories…. anyway we head over to the field and get in line for our grand stand tickets, which were only six bucks. pretty good deal there too. Must be why the place was packed! Cheap beer and cheap tickets, and there is even a ball game too!
Tonight the Greensboro Grasshoppers were up against the Rome Braves. As soon as the game started two foul balls flew up to where we were and sent beer flying through the air, but fortunately no one got hurt. Pretty exciting game, when you weren’t weaving through the crowds to get to the restroom a half a mile away. The Grasshoppers ended up taking this one for Greensboro, and they have two more games to go.
