My wife (Leslie) and myself owned and operated our organic farm, Inspiration Farm, for years. If you ever visited the Greensboro Farmers Curb Market in Greensboro NC from 2002 – 2009, you may have bought some of our killer veggies. Well, now my life has kinda come full circle. After recently moving to Asheville NC, I am now working in the garden at Sunny Point Cafe. Sunny Point is located on the corner of Haywood Rd. and State St. in West Asheville NC. Not only is Sunny Point one of the best restaurants you will find, they have one of the best gardens you will find as well. Located just behind the restaurant is a jewel of a urban garden. It’s only a few years old, but the folks at Sunny Point definitely have this garden on the right path.
So, that brings me to this new addition to the site… In The Garden. Each week I will give you updates on the garden, packed with photos, and tips. We’ll also be glad to try and answer a few questions along the way. So, if you are a garden nut, weekend warrior, or a foodie, you should really “dig” this new addition. Take a trip to your local farmer’s market, buy a few veggie plants… grab a shovel and let’s get started. You still have plenty of time to get a garden growing. And keep in mind, all that work is well worth it when you sit down for dinner with food that you grew. It’s a feeling ya just can’t beat! And if you have a garden… grow something you’ve never grown. Or better yet… teach a kid how to garden. You might be surprised how much they (and you) will enjoy!
