DC COMICS TO REINVENT ITS ENTIRE UNIVERSE
Say you could never afford a copy of The Justice League #1? Well, as of Aug 31st, you should be able to. What the heck am I going on about? DC Comics wants to reinvent their entire line of characters to be more modern, sort of like Marvel did with its “Ultimate” line of comics some years back. They want to make the characters younger, and more in tune with today’s youth. I wonder if that means suddenly Superman won’t be married to Lois Lane anymore??? Hmmmm… should be interesting to see how they change the characters from what we’ve known them as and their origins for all these years into what will be new beginnings for a whole new generation. As I was saying before The Justice League #1 debuts on August 31st, followed in September by 51 more titles for a total of 52, DC’s magic number. So far the comic giant hasn’t revealed any of the other titles to be restarted at number one, but I’ll just bet it will be Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, the Flash, and probably Aquaman. Now, on another subject, what about print run? I remember back in the mid-90′s at Acme comics, when DC did their “Zero Hour” run of #0 books, and after it was over we were putting a lot of them in the 50 cent bins. I want to see this be a success, but if they go overboard and print a ridiculous amount, then what is the point? I guess we shall see come August.
