Rex’s Film Reviews … Rio

This is the story of a blue macaw named..well.. Blu. Blu is from Rio de Janeiro, but he doesn’t know that. Oh, and Blu never learned how to fly. You see, he along with several other exotiic birds were captured when Blu was a baby. Due to a bump in the road from the pet store truck in Minnesota, Blu was found by a little girl , who takes care of ,and in fact downright spoils Blu, who never learns to fly. Who needs to fly with such a cushy life, right? The little girl and Blu are now grown up and it’s fifteen years later, when the girl receives a strange visitor to her bookstore. A man who claims that Blu is in need of mating back in Rio to insure the survival of the blue macaw species. Eventually the girl agrees to travel to Rio with the man, and that is when the adventure really starts. It just happens to be carnivale time in Rio and everyone is excited to join in the festivities, even the bad guys who first captured Blu and all the other birds, who repeatedly try with the help of an old grizzled cockatoo who you won’t like right away. Along the way Blu runs into all sorts of crazy characters who help him escape danger, lighten his mood, or try to get him captured by the bad guys. Voices in the film include Will.I.AM, Tracy Morgan (as a drooling bulldog), Jamie Foxx, and George Lopez (as an advice spouting Toucan). Fun and very colorful movie for all ages! If you have HD or Blu-ray you will get the most out of this movie.
