1. 1st things 1st… thanks for being here w/ us, Tell the readers a little bit about yourself and where you are from.I’m Brey Quick, Im from NC home of Ken Jeong from The Hangover! I’m an Recording Artist, Producer, and Creator of the SkyedUP Cloud. I’ve produced music containing vocals from, and worked with Freeway, Tone Trump, GAGE, Lee Hester, Teeny Barrino (brother of American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino), Ricky Ruckus, Curtis Santiago, and many unsigned artist all over North America and Europe.

2. How long have you been producing & what made you start?
I’ve been producing for 11 years now. I borrowed the MPC 1000 from my man, and taught myself how to make beats on it by sampling. I wanted to rap over my own beats, instead of Industry beats, and I always felt I had a nack for music since a young age.
~
3. Who and/or what have been your strongest influences on you and your music?
The music I listened to during the 90s and the grudge punk rock ages really impacted me. Like MJ, Prince, Nirvana, Smashing Pumpkins, & Foo Fighters. Later, I was really impacted by The Hot Boys, No Limit, Tupac, Nas, & Jay-Z of course. I think I was pretty ecletic, so that directly correlates to my music. Also, just everyday life, truthfully. Anything that happens to me or around me.

4. You are also a pro basketball player, tell us a little bit about that, and how it meshes with being an artist/producer.
Well I’ve played basketball since I was about 5. I was pretty damn good in High School haha, got a 4 year scholarship to Division 1 school High Point University, then ended up snagging an agent and went on to play Pro in Iceland for 2 seasons. Very enjoyable life experience. It correlates with being an artists because Its always competition and being in front of a crowd everynight. Performing is performing! No matter what. This helps because I dont really get nervous when up on stage. Playing in front of UNC, Kentucky, Michigan, Utah, Clemson, etc, is crazy!

5. Who are some artists you’ve worked w/ and are planning on working w/ in the future?
I have worked with and produced records for and contatining vocals for Freeway, Tone Trump, GAGE, Lee Hester, Ricky Ruckus, Tim Lawrence,Theo Martins, Curtis Santiago, and endless unsigned artist all over North America and Europe. I plan on working with Hot artists. Serious artists who are about their craft. If we mesh well and the situation is great, then I’m down.

6. We’ve seen you crush the competion at a few of the DSB Beat Battles, When was the 1st beat battle you competed in?The first beat battle I competed in was actually the DSB 7 @ Greenstreet in Greensboro NC where I placed 2nd.
~
7. Which battle was the most memorable to you and why?
The most memorable beat battle for me was def @ Jack Sprat in Chapel Hill. I came in first, It was my 2nd beat battle ever and the crowd just showed so much love for a new face on the scene. The one @ Greene street I mentioned earlier also, bc I came in 2nd, it was my first real beat battle, and was a lot of adversity and energy. It was cool.
~
8. A lot of people in attendance thought should have won DSB 7 and should be the champ as we speak. What are your thoughts on the CLASSIC battle between you and CarsonPalmer?
It was a great battle haha. At the time I was pissed becasue I felt I def should have won. But its all good. Was a great battle, Much respect to Carson, he had some hot beats. But being such a big a competitor, I feel I should have taken the crown.
~
9. Ok enuf about the battles. You are an aspiring artist, as well as a well know producer in the region. With everything you have on your plate right now where do you plan to be with your music in the next 2 years?
In the next 2 years I plan on atleast being recognized in the Industry, If not already by a few heads, and Being on someones, If not my own tour, showing the world what this SkyedUP Thing is all about. Doing numbers wouldnt be so bad either, I know you feel me on that.
